Ethan Osborn

Freelance Technician

Based in Lancashire, Ethan is a freelance technician with a wide range of experience and a lifetime spent around theatre and performance.

Coming from a family of videographers, photographers, engineers and lighting technicians, Ethan started working in theatre as a followspot operator at 16, and by 18 was technical director for a production company in his home town of Braintree, Essex. While here, he was nominated for a technical achievement award from the North Essex Theatre Guild, as well as working on that year's winner of Best Pantomime. He also started working at a music festival as a sound technician, helping to manage one of the seven stages.

Moving to London, Ethan carried on his work by spending three years working with St George's Students Union as the primary technical officer. During this time, he worked on 31 full-scale productions, as well as over almost two hundred smaller one-off shows, showcases and live music events, both with St George's and with the University of London. Working in lighting and sound design, board operation, set design, stage management and carpentry, Ethan has experience in an array of stagecraft roles. He has also worked as a producer for a successful production of Bare: A Pop Opera. His work for the University was rewarded with Student Union Laurels, the highest award the organisation can award, for his contributions to performing arts.
